BOOM, BOOM, BOOM, BOOM

Shalom, shalom everyone.

So, we had four explosions last week in London. Since I can't be bothered to take time off from sunbathing in the beautiful Caribbean to analyze this in any depth, I'll just offer a few musings.

Firstly, as any semi-decent human being would, so I, too, offer my condolences to the families and close ones of the victims of the said terror attacks. Putting it mildly, it really sucks for lives to be lost in such a stupid way.

But that, I'm afraid, is as far as my sympathy can be extended. There are several reasons for this. First of all, Israel and the Israeli people have had to contend with much deadlier, frequent, persistent and savage terrorist attacks than the four blasts on and off for the past sixty odd years. These particularly intensified four years ago from which point it became impossible to step out of one's house even to go buy a drink round the corner without wondering if one will return safely home. The ingenious anti-terrorist barrier, which has been erected around the territories in the meantime (and which has attracked Nazi-ish vitriol from every Jew-hater on Earth and beyond), has assuaged this threat to some degree. However, as today's Netanya shopping mall outrage shows (three killed HY"D), the peril is by no means over. And with all that, what sympathy did we get from the people of Britain or London, or from the English government? Jack squat, that's what. Indeed, we had e.g. the London mayor, Ken Livingstone, schmooze the most despicable individuals walking the face of this planet and generally make altogether unpalatable statements about Medinat Yisrael and beney Yisrael. Well, now you, too, have had a taste of blind, bestial terrorism, Livingstone. Not pretty, is it.

Let's also put these attacks into perspective, shall we. Fifty odd people were killed by the MILITANTS. (Yeah, I bet some of you think I should be terming them terrorists but hey, just as Chamas/IJ/Chizbolah and whatnots are not terrorists but "militants" according to your BBC and others, so then are these guys.) But how many people has Britain directly murdered in Iraq over the past couple of years? Literally tens of thousands, without any exaggeration. Not to mention the millions of lives terminated or otherwise destroyed by Britain in its recent and colonial history. And what: just because the thousands of Iraqis didn't have a good job or a nice house or a fancy auto, or a refined shopping taste, or were not computer-literate, or didn't have a "prestigious" nationality, etc, were their lives worth less than the fifty or so killed in London? I don't think so. Every human life is worth the same. And I find it utterly distasteful and, frankly, offensive to survey all the commemorations, memorial services, acts of respect and sobriety over the few dozen perished in London, while Iraqi and Afghan people have been dying like flies for the past several years at the hands of the sconeheads, and few people batted an eyelid. Enough of the hypocrisy!

And one last comment for the end. You're going to have every militant and latent nationalist, xenophobe, security freak and other assorted piece of work crawling out of the sewage demanding the introduction of even more draconian measures ostensibly to combat terror. As is already happening on a grand scale, attacks against Muslims--by vigilante mobs, lone pieces of turd and government stormtroopers--are going to mushroom. Just as every upstanding person has a duty to fight terrorism, so they also have a duty to fight anti-terrorism. Everyone with an input in Britain has to take every step available to safeguard civil liberties and protect their neighbors, especially Muslims, Arabs, people of Middle Eastern origin, etc. We know that the unashamedly racist police "service" of Britain has been itching for a long time to find a group to abuse after the Stephen Lawrence fiasco put African Europeans--somewhat!--out of their reach. It is surely better to liberate a hundred guilty persons than to wrongfully convict even one innocent.

L'hitraot, b'hatzlachah...
